Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Progress with Global Hope 365

In 2024, Global Hope 365 reached over 729,000 people, achieved groundbreaking legislative wins, and inspired change across the nation. As the year draws to a close, we reflect on these milestones with pride and renewed commitment to ending child marriage, human trafficking, and gender-based violence. This year, our dedicated efforts have inspired change at local, state, and national levels, bringing us closer to a future where every child and vulnerable individual is protected.

Raising Awareness, Saving Lives

Our signature campaign, Raising Awareness, Saving Lives, achieved remarkable milestones this year:

  • 729,429 Citizens Reached: Through community events, educational sessions, and digital outreach, our team personally interacted with over 729,000 individuals, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to stand against child marriage and human trafficking.

  • 11,179 Digital Letters Sent: Advocacy was amplified as 11,179 digital letters were sent to elected officials urging the adoption of legislation to "End Child Marriage Under 18, No Exceptions."

  • Local Advocacy Wins: 16 out of 34 cities in Orange County, as well as Culver City, and Maywood City in Los Angeles County, and The County of Santa Clara passed resolutions supporting our mission to end child marriage without exceptions.

  • Nationwide Testimonies: Our founder testified in 13 states across the nation, including New Hampshire, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Kansas, New York, and Alaska, advocating for the eradication of child marriage.

Legislative Milestones in 2024

This year, significant legislative advancements were achieved in the fight against child marriage and human trafficking. Here are some highlights:

  • Child Marriage: Several states have introduced or passed laws to set the minimum marriage age to 18, without exceptions. These efforts align with our mission to protect children from exploitation and forced marriages. For example:

    • New York: Strengthened its existing legislation to remove loopholes that previously allowed exceptions.

    • Kansas: Passed new protections ensuring no child under 18 can be legally married.

    • Hawaii: Implemented comprehensive measures to close gaps in enforcement and education around child marriage prevention.

  • Human Trafficking: Federal and state legislatures enacted groundbreaking laws to combat human trafficking:

    • The End Modern Slavery Act was passed, enhancing protections for survivors and increasing penalties for traffickers.

    • Several states, including California, Texas, Florida, Ohio, and Illinois, adopted measures to improve victim support services and mandate anti-trafficking training for law enforcement and educators.

      • California: Enacted legislation to expand funding for survivor housing programs and strengthened requirements for corporate supply chain transparency to combat labor trafficking.

      • Texas: Mandated anti-trafficking education in schools and created a task force to combat trafficking at major events.

      • Florida: Introduced statewide training for hospitality workers to identify and report trafficking activities.

      • Ohio: Launched a public awareness campaign targeting vulnerable communities and expanded safe harbor protections for minors.

      • Illinois: Increased penalties for businesses complicit in trafficking and provided grants for community organizations working on prevention and survivor support.

    • Efforts to make online platforms safer included key legislative actions:

      • The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) was implemented to enhance safeguards against exploitation, requiring platforms to prioritize the safety of minors and restrict harmful content.

      • The EARN IT Act introduced stricter standards for digital platforms to prevent the distribution of child exploitation material, ensuring accountability for negligence.

      • Platforms were mandated to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing data on suspicious activities and employing advanced AI tools to detect and remove trafficking-related content in real-time.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we celebrate these achievements, we remain committed to our mission. The momentum from 2024 fuels our drive to:

  • Expand our outreach campaigns to engage more communities.

  • Work with additional states to pass comprehensive child marriage bans.

  • Continue advocating for robust legislation to end human trafficking.
